Travelpro Luggage Reviews

We’ve already determined that Travelpro is one of the best luggage brands available. This article highlights several Travelpro products that we really like, notably from the new Maxlite3 series. Below is a table of the best product for each category, with expanded Travelpro luggage reviews of each product following the table.

($) $0 – $99       |      ($$) $100 – $199      |      ($$$) $200+

best travelpro suitcaseBest Travelpro Carryon Suitcase: Maxlite3 International Carry-On Spinner

Dimensions: 22” x 9.5” x 14” (with wheels)

Weight: 6.7 lbs.

Price: $111 – $128

The most popular category that we review is carry ons, and Travelpro really makes a great and affordable carry on suitcase that we highly recommend. In a previous article, we’ve mentioned the differences between international and carry on suitcases. Carry on size restrictions vary from airline to airline, so we suggest going with an international carry on, which are around 1-2” smaller in overall length. Be careful though, because Travelpro claims this is 20” tall. When end to end, including handle and wheels, the bag measures 22”, and that is the measurement that flight attendants will care about.

As far as the rest of the bag goes, the spinner wheels are great and roll very smoothly. It is surprisingly durable thanks to a honeycomb framing structure and EVA foam. There are corner guards and crash guards that will help this bag last a long time, making it perfect for a frequent traveler. We would call this the best lightweight Travelpro suitcase.

Best Luxury Travelpro Carryon Suitcase: Platinum Magna 21”best luxury travelpro suitcase

Dimensions: 22.5” x 14” x 9” (with wheels)

Weight: 8lbs.

Price: $220 – $250+

For twice as much as the Maxlite3 carryon, you can upgrade to the high-end Platinum Magna suitcase. The polyester that makes up the Maxlite3 carryon is very light and durable; however, the nylon material that makes up the Platinum Magna is even higher quality and more durable. The wheels on the Magna are a major upgrade from the Maxlite3 because of the Magnatrac magnetic wheel alignment.

Many reviewers of the Magna claim that the spinner wheels on the Magna are the best they’ve ever had on a suitcase. If your budget for a single suitcase is $200+, there are so many great suitcases to choose from. If you’re brand loyal to Travelpro, it does not get any better than the Platinum Magna 21” Spinner Carry on. If you want to compare and look at the Travelpro Maxlite3 vs Platinum Magna carryon, it really comes down to the better quality materials used to construct the bag, and the leather accents on the Magna.

best travelpro duffle bag toteBest Travelpro Tote Bag: Maxlite3 Soft Tote

Dimensions: 10” x 19.5” x 11”

Weight: 2.1 lbs.

Price: $56 – $65

You’re probably seeing a theme here, and that’s because Maxlite3 is the flagship line of Travelpro products. Maxlite3 is the newest and best that Travelpro has to offer. Most people know Travelpro because of their excellent and affordable luggage; however, Travelpro also make tote bags. This tote bag reminds us of a smaller duffle bag that you can carry by either the long strap or the short straps on the top.

The Maxlite3 Soft Tote makes a great “personal item” which are allowed on most airlines. The end pocket can expand allowing for an additional four inches of packing space, which we love. This bag is very lightweight and easy to carry in several ways.

Best Travelpro Garment Bag: Maxlite3 Garment Bagbest travelpro garment bag

Dimensions: 7” x 22” x 20”

Weight: 5.1 lbs.

Price: $85 – $96

Another great product in the Maxlite3 line is this new garment bag. Garment bags are great if you are serious about traveling and protecting your formal clothes. This garment bag is perfect for safely transporting either two suits, sometimes more, or a few dresses and other items. Maxlite3 garment bag reviews will show you that it is possible to pack shoes in the bag as well. There is a convenient hook so you can hang the bag up in a closet, or anywhere else really.

This wouldn’t work as a carry on suitcase, but other than that, we’re huge fans of the Maxlite garment bag.

best travelpro backpackBest Travelpro Backpack: T-Pro Bold Backpack

Dimensions: 17.5” x 12” x 8.5”

Weight: 2.5 lbs.

Price: $70 – $85

Sometimes the most practical way to carry things is the good old backpack. As far as we know, there isn’t a Maxlite backpack, but T-Pro is the best Travelpro line when it comes to the backpack category. This isn’t the most stylish backpack, but it sure makes up for that in durability and practicality. This backpack fits perfectly on top of the T-Pro rolling luggage series. The T-Pro Bold will make a great carry on or personal item if you plan on taking it onto a plane. There are three main, large pockets, but not a ton of smaller pockets.

Conclusion

They may not be Samsonite, but Travelpro has really made a name for themselves in the luggage industry. Travelpro luggage reviews are all over the internet, but using our quick guide above to the best Travelpro luggage, it’s impossible to go wrong.
